Digimon World DS is the first Digimon game that was released on the Nintendo DS platform. It highly resembles Digimon World 3 on the PlayStation platform — as such, Digimon World 3 fans better don’t miss this!
This game started off with YOU, the player, who has got nothing to do, thus was surfing around on the internet in school — check out the retro web page design:
Interestingly, the web page design suddenly changes to reflect that YOU have been chosen to enter the Digimon World and become a Digimon tamer,
And so after entering the Digimon world, the player starts to have an amazing misadventure, meeting and taming new Digimon along the way and climbing his/her way up the ‘ranking system’ of Digimon tamers — normal tamer; bronze tamer; silver tamer; gold tamer; platinum tamer and finally, the tamer king.
In the game, you will be able to have your own Digi-Farms, where you get to train and breed your very own Digimon literally, those Digimon devices that you own 10 years ago in the 90s. In these farms, you are able to purchase goods and ‘decorate’ your farm to suit certain types of Digimon, to let them grow better (with bonus stats when levelling).
In addition, those who play the game using Nintendo DS, are able to interact with other players by exchanging Digimons, or even doing Player-VS-Player (PVP) battles.
The following is a picture of one of your farms,
Last but not least, I really like how the Digimons just follow behind the player’s character and run around the places. It looks quite cute and encouraging at the same time, seeing how your Digimon evolves as you progress with the game. It’s very impactful because you can always see it running around the map with your character.
Being a huge Digimon World fan who has played Digimon World 1, 2, and 3 and totally loves them all, I can’t miss this game! 😀
